With all pf the hustle and bustle of the holiday season behind us, I find myself at the end of January already. This is the month where people everywhere resolve to make changes big and small to improve the coming year. January carries with it, so much hope and expectation, like an empty book, waiting for you to fill the pages up with your adventures. But unfortunately, reality doesn't ever quite live up to expectation and by this time of the month, disappointments are already settling in, as you realize that your resolution to stop snacking, hasn't officially began yet and the Month of Change is almost over.

I always jump on a the bandwagon of new years resolutions. I am a fan of the whole idea in general, a time where it is completely acceptable (nay encouraged) to release the old and embrace the new.

New Year, New You! Except, Change is scary, and it is very easy to make a list of accomplishments on December 31 when your stomach is full of spirits and good food and you've just been lavished with gifts.

My resolutions never work out, not once. So this year I have resolved to make promises, not resolutions, and these promises are not for the world, but for myself.

My Promise to Myself in 2019

1. I promise to fall in love...with myself. I will look for the good in myself, the way I try to look for the good in others. I will speak with an internal dialogue that matches the speech I wish to hear in the real world. I will be a better example of self love for my daughters, who ONLY see the good in me.

2. I promise to be truthful. I will speak the truth to myself and to others. I will stop mincing words, and holding back for fear of judgement or ridicule.

3. I promise to make Decisions...quickly. This will be VERY difficult for me. I have felt paralyzed by the fear of making the wrong decisions in the past which causes a chronic problem of

procrastination and sometimes results in other people making the decisions for me. I will take back control and have more confidence in myself and my judgements.

4. I promise to follow through. Once a decision has been made, I promise to put in the effort to follow through with my plans. Procrastination be gone!

5. I promise to be grateful. Everyday. For Everything.

6. I promise to watch out for miracles, big and small in my everyday life.

7. I promise to be more patient with my family, my friends, my neighbors and myself.

For once, these are "resolutions" that I can confidently stand behind. What promises have you made to yourself this year? Sound off Below!
